About Us

Once upon a time, I believed there was a clear path to a fulfilling career and happy family life.  All I had to do was follow this handy 10 step plan:

  • 1 Get a college degree
  • 2 Find a job
  • 3 Do it well
  • 4 Job hop or get promoted to better pay and higher level positions
  • 5 Get married
  • 6 Have kids
  • 7 Stay home with them for 5 years
  • 8 Return to work
  • 9 Excel at work and home
  • 10 Enjoy my perfect family and career - BOOM!

I worked hard to check off the boxes and by #7 I knew I was on a roll.  Then came #8 and things suddenly went sideways.

I needed the adult and interaction and income returning to work offered, but I was torn at the thought of missing the precious baby and toddler years.

So I started a home-based business, which grew to several employees and a nice revenue stream.  However success came at a high price.  I was burning both ends, treading as fast as I could, yet showing up half-ass for everything.  Frustrated and angry, I felt like a hypocrite, and I hated the person I was becoming.

A year later, at the brink of a breakdown, I sold my business.  I had to figure out what happened.  What was wrong with me?   Women were supposed to be able to have it all – career and kids, everything balanced and Facebook perfect, weren’t they?

These questions shifted my career focus.  I was hell-bent on figuring out what went wrong between Steps 8 & 9, so I focused on finding answers. With the help of a talented coach and multiple mentors, I turned my passion for helping others into a career in coaching.

Now 10 years later, looking back at my 10 Step Life Plan I’ve learned some things.

  1. Career success doesn’t have to mean sidelining your family, your health or your sanity.
  2. The biggest roadblock to career success is self-confidence.
  3. You have the potential to achieve your dreams, the hardest part is taking that first step.

Bonus tip:  Find a tribe and/or work with a coach to shorten your success cycle!
